Queue
YouTube's queue lines up videos to play next without stopping the current one. On a computer, choose More, Add to queue, free; on phones and tablets, More, Play next in queue or Play last in queue needs YouTube Premium. The queue disappears when the browser closes unless saved to a playlist.
To add a video to your queue on YouTube on a computer, click More (the three dots) beside the video's title, or hover over its thumbnail, and choose Add to queue (YouTube Help). The video waits in line in the Miniplayer and plays after the current one, without interrupting it. On a phone or tablet the same menu offers Play next in queue and Play last in queue, but queuing in the app needs YouTube Premium. A queue is a temporary list; a playlist is a saved one, and a queue can be turned into a playlist with one click. Both are ways to line up an evening on YouTube.

How do I add a video to the queue on a computer?
- Find the video on Home, in search results or beside the one you are watching.
- Click More next to its title, or hover over the thumbnail and click the queue icon.
- Choose Add to queue.
The first video you add opens the queue in the Miniplayer in a corner of the screen; more videos join the end of the line (Picture in Picture and Miniplayer), and they can be dragged into a new order there, as Learn With Seb showed when the queue reached computers in 2019. The Miniplayer can be expanded back to the full watch page while the list waits.
How do I queue videos on a phone or tablet?
- Sign in with a YouTube Premium account.
- Find the video and tap More next to its title.
- Choose Play next in queue to put it straight after the current video, or Play last in queue for the end of the line.
The steps are the same on Android, iPhone and iPad (Help). Since June 2025, Premium members on Android can also add recommended videos to the queue instantly (Use your YouTube Premium benefits; YouTube viewer updates). Help gives no queue steps for TVs, and no YouTube source describes a queue there.
How do I save a queue?
The queue is not kept: Help says it is gone once the browser closes. To keep it, open the queue, choose More > Save to playlist, then pick an existing playlist such as Watch Later, or New playlist, giving it a title and a visibility; a private playlist is seen only by you. A message at the bottom of the screen confirms where the videos went (Help).
Queue or playlist?
| Queue | Playlist | |
|---|---|---|
| Lasts | Until the browser closes | Until deleted |
| Shared | No | Public, unlisted or private |
| Cost on a computer | Free | Free |
| Cost in the app | YouTube Premium | Free |
| Best for | What to watch next, right now | Collections to return to or share |
Watch Later is the middle ground: a private playlist every account has, which Help suggests for videos to finish another time. To repeat a queue or playlist, see Loop a Video.
