See Which Shorts Used a Video
The address youtube.com/source/VIDEO_ID/shorts lists the YouTube Shorts made from a video, such as remixes that used its sound or a cut of it; creators can also see remix traffic in YouTube Studio.
To see which YouTube Shorts were made from a video, open https://www.youtube.com/source/VIDEO_ID/shorts, putting the video's 11-character id in place of VIDEO_ID. The page shows a grid of the Shorts that used it, each with its view count. For example, youtube.com/source/35X6K2dMom8/shorts showed a grid of 25 Shorts with their views when Vi.ki opened it on Nov 6, 2026, while the same address for a video nobody had remixed showed none. YouTube does not link to this page from the watch page or document it in Help, so few people know it exists; George Vanous, who runs the Freedom! YouTube network, noted on Dec 9, 2024 that he had never seen links like it before.

How do I see the Shorts made from a YouTube video?
- Open the video and copy its id: the 11 characters after
watch?v=in the address. - Type
https://www.youtube.com/source/then the id, then/shorts, into the address bar. - Press Enter. Click any Short in the grid to play it.
An empty page means no Short has used the video, or none that YouTube shows there. Because the page is undocumented, YouTube may change or remove it without notice.
Where YouTube itself shows the link
YouTube Help explains the official trail in the other direction, from a Short back to its source (Create YouTube Shorts with remixed content):
- A Short that used a video's audio credits the source on its sound's page: tap the sound name in the Shorts player to see the original video and other Shorts using that audio.
- A Short that used a video's footage credits the source in the Shorts player, with a link to the video.
- Remixes of remixes show on the sound and remix pages and in the player's details.
For creators: how much remixing brings you
Help names three ways for a creator to follow remixes of their videos (Create YouTube Shorts with remixed content):
- Notifications: at most one summary a day, up to three a week, when your content is remixed.
- Analytics: in YouTube Studio's reach report, sort traffic sources by Remixed video to see the views remixes sent you (YouTube Studio Analytics).
- The source page above, which lists the Shorts themselves.
What can be remixed, and turning it off
YouTube's remix tools let anyone make a Short from a public video: its sound, a short cut of it, a Green Screen background or a side-by-side Collab (Shorts Remix). On a long video, the Remix button sits in the Share menu under the player. Help lists what cannot be remixed: private videos, videos claimed by copyright owners who have not made them available for Shorts, videos whose creators limit remixing, content limited by partners through Content Manager, and some music, depending on its licenses.
To stop remixing of a video:
- Open YouTube Studio and click Content.
- Click the video's title or thumbnail.
- Click Show more.
- Under Shorts remixing, choose whether to allow remixing.
- Click Save.
Studio can also change this in bulk, or as an upload default (Create YouTube Shorts with remixed content). Turning it off does not remove Shorts already made; Help says that if a source video is made private or deleted, audio remixes of it are muted, made unlisted and deleted after 30 days, and video remixes are deleted.
Frequently asked questions

Can I find every YouTube Short that used a song or sound? Tap the sound's name in a Short to open its sound page, which lists the original and other Shorts using that audio.
Is youtube.com/source an official YouTube page? It is served by YouTube, but YouTube Help does not document it, so treat it as a trick that may change.
How do I stop people making YouTube Shorts from my video? In YouTube Studio, open the video, click Show more, and change Shorts remixing, then Save.
Do I get paid when someone remixes my YouTube video? Help does not describe a payment to the source creator for remixes; it describes credit links and notifications. See Shorts Monetization for how Shorts revenue is shared.
